Their new album is out soon, but good news, the new Single 'Break My Soul' can be downloaded - for free. So who are hybrid. Hybrid are one of the few remaining dance acts to perform live with a classic band setup. They use a full range of classical setups, along with electronic sounds. We love it. Why not try it. http://www.hybridsoundsystem.com/ google-plans-the-world%e2%80%99s-biggest-digital-library 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 The monopoly giant that is Google, is now preparing for yet another legal battle over their latest plans to create the world biggest digital library. With the court case taking place in New York and with 26 interested parties given to outline any objections, critics are saying that this latest deal would hand more power to Google and take less away from online book sales. To date Google has scanned around 12 million books to date, so soon we may see a world where everything we need is on a computer, from shopping, music, tv and now books. Although first of all Google has to battle through much of the copyright laws that held up their earlier similar plans in 2004, when they were sued by Authors Guild of America and the Association of American Publishers, for "massive copyright infringement." By 2005 Google agreed it would pay $125m (£77m) to create a Book Rights Registry where authors and publisher could register their works and receive compensation. At stake are the rights to over 25m books. In a statement Google's spokesman Gabriel Stricker said they wanted to "realise the goal of significantly expanding online acess to works through Google book search, an ambitious effort to make millions of books searchable via the web." With claims that it is 20% boost on its SunSpider bench mark and an increase in its performance above and beyond JavaScript. If that wasn't enough it even expands on all the add on tools of its browser. "Firefox 3.6 is going back to that idea of trying to get a bunch of new web technology into the hands of users so that web developers can take advantage of it sooner." : Mike Beltzner, Mozillas Director of Firefox development. It even comes complete with the following tools; Web Open Font Format (a faster means of taping downloadable fonts), CSS gradients (for displaying smooth transitions between web-based colours), HTML5 Drag and Drop API (for seamlessly moving files from the OS into the browser), File API (for manipulating files) and full-screen HTML 5 video. Firefox has seen a recent surge in popularity, in part due to it's growing market share, but also through major vulnerabilities found in Internet Explorer (see press release from the BBC, release from the French Government, and even the German government advised the switch) At s3d we like Firefox. We like the way it works, feels. Its quick and uses less resources on your computer. We also like Opera as well - mainly as it is fantastic for your emails. Firefox and Opera are both free. s3d-designs-sponsers-graham-molyneux-racing 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 graham molyneux racings3d designs sponsored Graham Molyneux Racing in 2009, which was the first ever KTM 125cc to compete in the Isle of Man TT event. The team reports for the TT event: "Into the first race and off the line Dan was lying in eighth position and closing on the pack ahead, once settled in Dan was in fifth position by lap four but on lap five entering Cross Four Ways half way around the track Dan over braked and slid off at low speed and was unable to continue with light damage to the front brake lever. With repairs completed we went on to the second race with Dan again eighth off the line, on lap two Dan progressed to sixth place. With a rider dropping out and Dan pushing hard he was closing in on fourth position which he was able to take on the eighth and final lap on the main straight. This was short lived as on the approach to cross for ways with little more than one mile to go the machine ran out of fuel. On investigating this following the event we have found a carburetor part failure which caused the engine to use more fuel than usual." We would like to congratulate the team on a excellent first season, where the bike and rider clearly showed good pace. We look forward to following the team in the 2010 season, where they have the new young rider Tarran. We will post further news on the s3d designs as and when it becomes available. did-you-get-our-message 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 Some days just a hard to see through. Did you get our message here? Listen to me, and let the weekend come closer. paypal-or-raural 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 Experts have warned the new release of non-Roman script fonts may well offer new possibilities for cyber criminals. From 2011 Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (Icann) will begin to accept internet domain names in non-Roman scripts. Which means the internet will become more available to those whose native language does not use the Roman alphabet. Westerners who are able to use such well known sites such as Yahoo, Google, and PayPal, can also be copied to look exactly the same in Cyrillic scripts such as Russian. For example an email containing the word Paypal would look genuine enough to us in the western world, but to a Russian it would read as 'raural' This email could then be linked to a bogus website which could steal personal or financial information all from an unsuspecting eye. Icann is now also allowing other languages to become apart of the internet domain, particularly Japanese and Chinese which uses pictures rather than words. Which then purposes the problem for many large internet domains as to how they will go about changing their well know domain name? For example, do they register a local site with a sound-a-like name? Or do they choose a character that is similar? Or a combination of characters that sound like the word they are trying to express? The process will be complex, but also could open up a lot of new possibilities - hopefully of the right nature. More to come as further plans are released. For more information see ICanns site For more information on this release (and creditations) please refer to this an-apple-a-day 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 It seems that Apple is not only one of the most profitable companies with its best ever quarterly sales, of its popular itouch and iphone. Now the technology world is holding its breath for a new arrival to the family of apple products. This Wednesday Apple plans to launch a brand new product, with many fan’s guessing it will be the newly awaited tablet. Fuelled by a quote from the CEO Steve Jobs 'The new products we are planning to release this year are very strong, starting this week with a major new product that we're really excited about.' With the event taking place at the much favoured Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco at 10 a.m. on January 27. What everyone is asking is what will they call this new product, rumours are that it could be; islate, itablet, ipad or even more concerning and dropping the famous i before the name, with just put simply 'tablet'! A tablet however is a large flat screen device with no keyboard, which makes us wonder whether it will be much use, as you won’t be able to make calls like you can on the iphone, and with a touch-screen keyboard any typing is going to prove rather difficult. Perhaps this is the hint we all needed, that its primary use will be for multimedia experiences. Stay tuned for more! bill-gates-joins-twitter 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 When you think of a technological business your first thought goes to Bill Gates. Microsoft is the business everyone knows at the fore front of all modern computing. Having now made his fortune and settling into his new charitable work, it still doesn’t stop the media frenzy surrounding him, especially when the "real" Bill Gates set up his new twitter account. True to his computing background he's very first tweet was "Hello world" which is a standard message used in computer programming. Only difference being his two words managed to attract 150,000 other Twitter users in just a mere 13 hours. Naturally of course we at s3d designs would like to give Bill Gates a run for his money, even if it is just via our very own twitter . We might not get 150,000 but we like quality over quantity, which isn't something Bill has always managed! Twitter only allows 140 characters on its micro blogging site, however there are free applications to shorten URL's to enable them to tweet more easily. Try it for yourself at http://tinyurl.com/ check-your-site-seo-for-free-basic 2010-03-10T05:35:12+00:00 Nothing is more damaging to your site's performance on the search engines, if you have broken links (links which lead to pages which do not exist) Two good tips here are the Xenu Link Checker and the GSiteCrawler. Both sadly are not the most attractive of applications, and require Windows to run - that said, they do perform their respective jobs very well indeed. Xenu Link Checker is a simple application that crawls a web site from a URL, and reports back on any dead links it finds. GSiteCrawler does a similar job. Of course, if you would like us to do an SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) audit on your site, please feel free to give us a call. Can give can you a good account of how well your site does the basics of satifying the search engine crawlers. LG publishes bendy 19in e-newspaper

LG has taken a big step in the ePaper R&D by demoing a 19" bendy ePaper prototype. For those who are not sure what ePaper is, put simply is a bendable computer screen, which hopefully (in time) will fold into your pocket. ePaper also uses new technology which means it continues to display what was last on the screen when it is completly turned off. This of course means the battery life is vastly improved. It is estimated this technology will be worth billions over the coming decade. Can you imagine a 'piece of paper' which folds, rarely needs charging and recives your daily paper automatically. For more information and images, check out this news article
